The unique* Porsche 964 3.6 Cabriolet

A unique work of art. A piece of history. The world's first Porsche personalised by TechArt. Explanations.

TechArt needs no introduction, nor does its close relationship with Porsche. TechArt's first real feats and its first public showcase within the Porsche world were achieved based on a Porsche 911 model 964, presented at the 1990 Frankfurt Motor Show. Based on the 911 Carrera Cabriolet 3.6 model, it served as the showcase for this partnership for over 20 years. It was an excellent way to demonstrate what TechArt, or TechArt Automobildesign, could achieve in agreement and close collaboration with Porsche for development and major customisation programmes.

This Porsche 911 convertible, a 964 model, presented with great fanfare, was draped in a complete yellow inside and out. The car, a true technical feat, was equipped with a wide-body conversion. The standard Porsche front bumper was omitted, with the wide front wheel arches draped over the sides of the original bumper. The chosen wheels were OZ Fittipaldi 17″ with centres painted in the car's yellow livery. The Turbo-look conversion cost around a third (DM 45,000) of a new 964 Carrera 2 (DM 120,000) and the TechArt interior was still worth DM 30,000. Not to mention the numerous subtle additional details. An absolute madness for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts.

This true work of art on wheels is, in addition to a technical and developmental feat that showcases the finest German craftsmanship, a representation of a part of TechArt/Porsche's history, the dream of owning the unique within an automobile, and a precursor to all future customisation programmes by all manufacturers. It is a unique object, an icon of the automobile in its most desirable and inspiring form for the human heart.
