The Porsche 356 C

The Porsche 356 is the first series-produced GT-type sports car from the large automobile manufacturer Porsche. 

For the 1964 model year, the 356 C replaced the 356 B. The engine range was reduced to three; the old 60 hp version was dropped. In its place, the 75 hp engine from the B 1600 Super became the standard engine for the C series.

From an aesthetic point of view, the C series was hardly distinguishable from the B series. The new design of the hubcaps was a result of all 356 models now being fitted with disc brakes as standard. Furthermore, the B model featured a round exterior mirror. The power unit, named after its designer Ernst Fuhrmann, was distinguished by its four overhead camshafts with bevel gear drive. In addition, this engine had dual ignition thanks to two separate distributors.

The model we are presenting is in a truly superb state of restoration, undoubtedly very elegant. It has benefited from a concours restoration. More than 1,000 hours were required to carry out this exemplary restoration. Each part, each element has been carefully reconditioned or replaced in accordance with the original.

With Sonauto as its first distributor, this superb example is also fully matching numbers and has only covered 2,580 km since its major restoration. The C model remains the most regularly usable.
