The Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark III

Presented in London in 1957, the Aston Martin DB2/4 MKIII is the model that preceded the DB4.

Produced in only 462 examples between 1957 and 1959, of which only 83 were left-hand drive from the factory for the world. The DB2/4 MKIII is the most advanced in the series.

Equipped with a 2.9L 6-cylinder engine and a 4-speed gearbox, it was capable of very high speeds for its time. The DB2/4 exceeded the symbolic 200 km/h mark, thus positioning itself among the best sports cars of the era. 

Despite a firm suspension, it's smooth and reliable as well as fun to drive. 

Before James Bond's film saga, Ian Fleming had already equipped the famous secret agent 007 with an Aston Martin. The book Goldfinger, written in 1959, did not refer to the famous DB5, but to the DB MKIII model. Our model.

Aesthetically, the differences between the DB2 and the DB2/4 are not striking, but they are present, starting with the Fastback. The latter evolves hatchback and by incorporating a tailgate, to facilitate access to luggage and improve the loading volume. This new feature is a first in the automotive industry and would be adopted by many models thereafter.
